Strong for Potatoes, Cynthia Thayer

This is an odd but intriguing little tale of a  young, part Native American woman who finds  solace in the old ways of her people and in  the comfort of her aging but very wise     grandfather. Blue Willoughby is named for the  blueberries that grow wild near her           parents’ stunning seaside home. Set on the  coast of Maine, on and near a Passamaquoddy reservation, this story emphasizes the importance of love in all its many variations,           of the necessity of passion in life, and most  of all, of the triumph of spirit over  adversity. KA, St. Martin’s $22.95
