Cynthia has been knitting since she was six, taught by her Great Aunt Hattie in Nova Scotia. She has taught hundreds of people to knit, including her grandchildren and apprentices at the farm. She offers workshops for beginning knitters at the farm and through Schoodic Arts for All. Please contact her for more information.
Knitting with handspun yarn makes a beautifully textured and complex piece. Sweaters and hats knit with handspun yarn are warm and almost waterproof so they don’t need to be washed very often.
Children who learn to knit feel great pride in their work and improve their manual skills. My granddaughter, Brianna, gave her third grade teacher a hat she had spun and knit.
